You can reserve your time slots for the week at the Glenwood Springs High School on 6/13. Certified massage therapists will provide 30 minute sessions for $35 and one hour sessions for $70.

Chiropractic Services: After finishing your daily ride, don’t forget to visit our Certified Sports Chiropractor, Dr. Dan Maduff.  Riding in pain only slows you down and can lead to further injury so take care of yourself. Fee is $60 for a visit.

Yoga: Certified instructor Gillian Parsons will lead dynamic yoga classes in several towns. All levels welcome. Class size will be limited to 20 people. First come, first served. Visit the Information Tent for more details and exact locations.

Sundance Images - Photography on the Route
Sundance Images will provide photo services for the 2009 tour. Photographers will be positioned along the route on specific days. If you are interested in purchasing photos, please note the letter (alphabet A-Z) and time (clock present) that are displayed as you ride by. At the end of day, Sundance will have a booth set up at the headquarter site where you can view/purchase photos sorted by letter and time. Some fun options this year include framed photos as well as canvas prints. To see sample pictures from last year check out their website.

Sustainability Stage Jersey Contest
RTR, New Belgium and ZeroHero have teamed up for a little challenge involving you, the rider. By now most of you have heard about the new sustainability initiatives with the ride this year, including zero-waste management, compostable vendor products and carbon offsetting. The most important factor in the programs success is with you! Therefore, we proudly announce the Sustainability Stage Jersey Contest, gifting limited addition RTR, New Belgium and ZeroHero green jerseys to those we catch promoting these goals through action. That means if you keep it green, you may be wearing the green jersey. Learn more about the Sustainability Stage Jersey Contest at the Sustainability Tent along the ride. Winners will be announced daily from the main entertainment stage at 4pm.

The Denver Post Charities
Silent Auction: This year we are introducing a traveling silent auction! Stop by The Denver Post Charities Tent to bid on a variety of items from companies like Mavic Wheels, Trek and Cannondale Bikes. Details on each item will be provided at The Denver Post Charities Tent and the Information Tent. Bidding will open Saturday, June 13 at 1pm and close on Thursday, June 18 at 5:30pm.

Ye Olde Candy Shoppe: Come by for some sweet treats, snacks, bandanas and flip-flops and get your complimentary tattoo. All proceeds go to Denver Post Charities.

The Denver Post Community/Ride The Rockies Grant Program
The Denver Post/Ride The Rockies grant program is proud to present a total of $30,000 to six nonprofit organizations in the communities hosting Ride The Rockies. Each of these organizations makes a crucial difference in their community by providing direct literacy services or programs for low-income youth through recreation, education or the arts. The 2009 grant recipients are:

Roaring Fork Valley Early Learning Fund – Glenwood Springs
Partners of Delta, Montrose, and Ouray – Hotchkiss
Gunnison Country Partners – Gunnison
The Boys & Girls Club of Chaffee County – Salida
Full Circle of Lake County – Leadville
Aspen Youth Center – Aspen

Nutrition Tip by Jessica Loring, Registered Dietician
There are numerous stores along the route where you can purchase snacks. However, it would be helpful and handy to pack a few food items for the ride so trips to the market can be minimized. Below is a list of some compact nonperishable foods that pack the most nutrition for their size.

Bike Safety
Ride the Rockies is one of about 200 organizations that support Bicycle Colorado through membership. Bicycle Colorado is the statewide non-profit that has accomplished successes such as increased shoulders on roads, safety and skills education in our schools and our state’s latest Bicycle Safety Law, which was passed last month. Bicycle Colorado is primarily funded by its 7,000 individual members. From a Bicycle Colorado member: “Just got back from riding in Arizona. The roads there tend to be less bicycle-friendly and wanted to pass along my thanks to Bicycle Colorado for your work.”

Almost 200 members of Bicycle Colorado are enjoying Ride the Rockies this year. If you are not a member, please consider joining. Memberships start at $5/month or $30/year and are the backbone of improvements to bicycling in our state. For more information: www.bicyclecolorado.org.

Thanking Our Volunteers
Ride The Rockies is staffed by an incredible group of almost 80 volunteers, many have been volunteering for over ten and even fifteen years. We are honoring their contribution to RTR by featuring their personal bios on our website. Be sure to thank them during the ride.
